This record came with a ton of firsts for us. To make a few:
- 1st time we wrote and arranged together instead of just 1 or 2 of us writing and presenting to the band
- 1st “vocal-centered” album with only 2 instrumental songs
- 1st use of real ehru, a traditional Chinese instrument (Spirit Walk)
- 1st use of 8-string guitar (Picasso’d Lie)
- 1st studio bass solo (Don’t Hide Your Love)
- 1st studio fade out (Don’t Hide Your Love)
- Lead vocal debut for Cody and Mark (Over/Under, Far/Near)
- 1st time recording growl/scream vocals for Justino (Picasso’d Lie)
- 1st album to not feature a female vocalist
- 1st hardcore breakdown (Picasso’d Lie)
- This one pains us… but first time using samples (orchestral section in Over/Under, Far/Near)
- 1st completely self-contained album. Produced, recorded, mixed, mastered, artwork, photography and video done completely in house
- 1st acoustic song (Unnoticed)
